Amiens Jail - Operation Jericho

Black Star recently flew into Amiens-Glisy (LFAY) airfield in the Somme region of France to visit the jail at Amiens. This was the target for Operation Jericho on Feb 18th, 1944 when Mosquitos of the RNZAF, RAAF and RAF, led by Group Captain P. C. Pickard DSO, DFC attacked at low level and successfully breached the jail walls allowing members of the French Resistance to escape Gestapo captivity. The wall has subsequently been repaired but the 'join' can still clearly be seen as our photos show. The jail is still in use by the French to this day. Black Magic

Rare Chilton DW1A 'Black Magic' was a visitor to the LAA Rally at Sywell on Sunday. Whilst on the subject of 'Black Magic' we also had the opportunity to meet and chat with Martin Jones of Airspeed Aviation at Derby about the restoration of de Havilland Comet Racer 'Black Magic'. Black Star is donating £1 from the sale of each of our 'Black Magic' t-shirts to the restoration project.

LAA Rally, Sywell 2015

The amazing Verhees D-Plane 1 caught Black Star's eye at the LAA Rally at Sywell on Saturday. It is a Belgian flying wing designed for home builders by Verhees Engineering
