Hurricane Mk 1 T-Shirt
The Hawker Hurricane Mk 1 was responsible for the destruction of more enemy aircraft during the Battle of Britain (July - October 1940) than any other aircraft or ground weapon.
It is credited with 656 enemy fighters and bombers against 529 for the Spitfires.
Designed by Sir Sydney Camm, the Hurricane was an evolution of the earlier Hawker 'Fury' Bi-Plane.
Although slower than the Spitfire I/II and the opposing Messerschmitt BF 1095, the Hurricane could out turn all of them.
The Hurricane Mk1 was equipped with 8 browning .303 machine guns.
1.715 Hurricane Mk1 were taken out of charge by RAF Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain.
