Hurricane 501 V7497
Hurricane Mk 1 V7497 flew with 501 Squadron from RAF Kenley at the height of the Battle of Britain.
It was shot down by a Messerschmitt Bf.109 flown by Staffelkapitan Gustav Sprick of 8./JG26 over Kent on 28th September 1940. The air frame crashed near Sutton Vallance whilst the pilot, P/O E.B. Rogers survived by taking to his parachute.
After a full restoration lasting over 3 years V7497 flew again on 30th August 2018 and is now on display at the IWM at Duxford.
